Kashin is famous for its quality artesian water, vodkas and other beverages that use that water, health resorts, and remarkably intact architecture. The place just oozes with the spirit of small-town Russia.

Somewhere between Sergiev Posad and Kashin....

        

"Volkovoynya" translates as "a place where wolves howl".
Expression "to howl like a wolf" ("vyt volkom") means to be in utter despair.

Gorod osnovan v XIII veke I proslavilsja blagodarja upravlavshej zdes mudroj knjagine-monahine Anne Kashinskoj. K nej priezzhali sovetovat’sja knjazja iz drugih gorodov Rusi. V XV veke Annu Kashinskuju objavili svjatoj, no v XVII veke oficialnaja Cerkov zapretila ej molitsja, t. k. ona byla ochen populjarna u raskolnikov (staroobrjadcev). Tolko v XIX veke ee opjat provozglasili svjatoj.

V gorode I vozle nego – samye chistye rodniki centra Rossii, saaja poleznaja pitjevaja voda.
